Project Lead The Way (PLTW)

Project Lead The Way (PLTW) is an engaging K–12 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) supplemental curriculum aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards.

PLTW courses focus on problem-solving, critical and creative thinking, communication, collaboration, and perseverance while teaching grade-level academic content.

The SUSD CTE Department aims to provide access to high-quality STEM electives at every K–8 site, creating strong pathways into high school Career Technical Education programs and preparing graduates to support a STEM-powered regional economy.

Program Levels

Elementary (K–5) – Launch

A project-based STEM curriculum consisting of three activities, a project, and a culminating engineering design challenge.

Middle School (6–8) – Gateway

In-depth elective courses that bridge elementary and high school programs, preparing students for engineering, biomedical science, and computer science pathways.
