What is Constituent Services?
Updated Title
Constituent Services is the updated title for what used to be “Compliance Services.”
What is a Constituent?
Constituent means being a part of a whole.
Our Purpose
Constituent Services exists to provide assistance to our constituents—parents, students, community, staff—anyone with a direct tie to SUSD.
Fairness & Respect
Constituent Services seeks to ensure fairness and promote respect for all SUSD constituents.
Our Goal
Our goal is to provide support by offering a place to be heard, express concerns, resolve disputes, manage conflicts, and learn productive ways of communicating.
Requests for Assistance
Requests do not always come in the form of a complaint—we help navigate District processes and answer “who should I talk to?” questions.
Consideration of Complaint Request
Filing a Complaint
Stockton Unified School District encourages constituents to discuss concerns regarding policies, procedures, or the action/inaction of district employees with the Department, Supervisor, or Principal most directly involved. Please attempt resolution at the site level before contacting Constituent Services.
What Happens After a Complaint is Filed?
The Board encourages early, informal resolution at the site or department level. First, speak with the staff or administrator involved. Serious or unresolved issues follow a formal process.
Constituent Services will determine the level of resolution:
Complaints are forwarded to supervisors or administrators to resolve. If allegations have merit, corrective actions are taken and findings are communicated to complainant and respondent.
If the Director of Constituent Services determines the complaint is valid, an investigation occurs and both parties are notified of findings.
The Board prohibits retaliation. The Superintendent may keep a complainant's identity confidential if necessary. Anonymous complaints may not be investigated. Complainants are protected from retaliation (BP 1312.1) and will be contacted for further information.
