Teacher Induction Program
Thank you for your interest in the Stockton Unified School District Teacher Induction Program. The program supports teachers holding preliminary California credentials through a structured induction experience designed to strengthen pedagogical knowledge, professional practice, and student learning.
Program Overview
The Stockton Unified School District Teacher Induction Program provides comprehensive, extended preparation and professional development for clear credential candidates in their first year of teaching on a preliminary credential.
The program focuses on the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP) in relation to state-adopted academic content standards, student performance levels, and curriculum frameworks.
Pathway to a Clear Credential
Professional growth is guided by an induction mentor through cycles of inquiry and the ongoing implementation of an Individual Learning Plan (ILP).
Evidence collected throughout the program demonstrates the candidate's progress toward mastery of the CSTPs. Completion of all program requirements leads to a recommendation for a California Clear Credential for eligible general and special education teachers.
Two-Year Program at No Cost
The two-year SUSD Teacher Induction Program is provided at no cost to induction-eligible candidates seeking to clear their preliminary credential.
Eligibility: Candidates must hold a current California Preliminary Credential and must be a full-time Stockton Unified School District employee in order to participate in the Teacher Induction Program.
Candidate & Mentor Matches
The SUSD Teacher Induction Program identifies and assigns an induction mentor to each eligible candidate within the first 30 days of enrollment.
Mentor matches are determined based on factors including:
- Credentials held by the candidate and mentor
- Same or similar grade level
- Same or similar subject area
- Education Specialist authorization, when applicable
- School site placement whenever possible
- Candidate and site administrator input
Every effort is made to create an appropriate mentor match that supports the candidate's professional growth and credential requirements.
